Brooks saddles are made of leather, can be mounted on springs or not. They're extremely resistant and comfortable, at least once they've been broken in. Break-in of a leather saddle means ridding it for a good 1000km and nourish the leather frequently to soften the leather. The saddle will then take the shape of your bottom and sitting on it gets just as good as sitting on clouds.
The drawback of a Brooks is first its price, then its hate for water. After riding under the rain, it's always a good idea to stuff the saddle with newspaper that will sock up the humidity.
