Traveling by bicycle is a fun and respectful way to discover a country and meet people. If you've already traveled on a bicycle, whether it was a 2 days ride around your town and 5 years around the globe, share your experience. Beginners are often confronted with questions or problems that we ourselves came across once, even if we're laughing about it now. Write about it! All subjects related to bicycle travel are welcome: bicycles, equipment, camping, tips, information about countries, books, links to useful internet resources, trails you've discovered...
[edit] Organizing the information
biketrip.org is a very young wiki, but it relies on experience that dates back to 1998 which is old for a website. So even if it does look empty right now, it will grow very fast. Articles are typically categorized. You can create a category if you feel like there's a need for it. Some special articles, like the links, books, pictures in the gallery or countries use additional information called properties allowing us to cross reference these articles. If you don't feel confident using properties or category, just write the article, a SysOp will categorize and add the properties for you.
Links and cycle shops use a form for easier addition and editing. You can access these forms by following the 'Add link' or 'Add shop' icons on the links and shops pages.

[edit] The Country Project
The Country Project will try to describe what's traveling in each country is like. What are the roads authorized for cyclists, what is the state of those roads, are there camping, is finding water easy, is finding a bicycle shop easy... The article about France is the most advanced so far and can be use as an example.

We have a long long packing list for cycle trips. It's good. What would be even better is an article about each item, describing it, with tips, pictures and recommended brands.
